Self portrait painting by outsider artist Lee Godie (1908 - 1994). The painting measures 19" wide and 21.5" high. in the frame it measures 30.5" wide and 35.5" high.
Lee Godie was an American self-taught artist who was active in Chicago during the late 1960s until around the early 1990s. She was a prolific artist who was known for her paintings and modified photos which are shown in galleries and museums. Godie lived on the streets, sleeping outdoors or in transient hotels. She could be seen on the steps of the Art Institute of Chicago selling her art to passersby.
