Mason Wells (1906 - 1984) watercolor dated 1946 and shows view of 936 Lake Shore Drive. Mason Bacheller Wells was born in Southbridge, Massachusetts, attended Harvard, Yale and San Francisco Art Institute. He was active/lived in California, Massachusetts. Mason Wells is known for geometric non objective, mod imagery. He was in Post Painterly Abstraction (a term created by art critic Clement Greenberg as the title for an exhibit he curated for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 1964, which subsequently travelled to the Walker Art Center and the Art Gallery of Toronto.). His family were founders of the American Optical Company.
